When is the best month to visit Osaka-Shi?
Spring and autumn are the most ideal times to visit because the weather in Osaka is much milder than in winter and the climate is far less humid and rainy than in summer. Those wishing to experience Osaka weather at its most pleasant and avoid crowds should visit in autumn because most Japanese take their holidays in spring.

Osaka's Climate
Osaka has hot and humid summers, with cool but mild winters. There is a rainy season from May to July, but it can and does rain at any time during the year. September and October can bring occasional typhoons, but the weather is rarely disruptive to tourists or locals, and Osaka can be visited at any time of the year.
Blossoms and Leaves
Two of the most popular seasons in Osaka are the spring and the autumn. Many international and domestic tourists flock to see the cherry blossoms in the spring, and to admire the beautiful foliage in the autumn. Osaka Castle and Kema Sakuranomiya Park are considered some of the best hanami (cherry blossom) viewing spots in the country, and the Expo Park is stunning in the autumn.
If you're visiting Osaka in the spring, you can expect daytime highs of around 13 degrees in March and 20 degrees in April, falling to 5 degrees and 15 degrees respectively at night. You may have to view the cherry blossoms from under an umbrella, however, as it rains on around 7 days during each of the spring months.
If you're visiting Osaka in the autumn, expect daytime highs of around 20 degrees in October, with overnight temperatures falling to 10 degrees in November. It's not quite as wet as the spring, but you'll still want to take a waterproof jacket or umbrella.
Osaka in the Summer
June, July, August and to some extent September too are very warm in Osaka. At the height of the summer, temperatures average 30 degrees in the daytime, and the nights are a sultry and sticky 25 degrees. June is the wettest month, with over 10 inches of rainfall and around 11 rainy days, but it's much too warm for waterproof clothing.
Most tourists tend to avoid Osaka during the peak of the summer, as it's simply too humid to make the most of the city.
Osaka in the Winter
It rarely snows in Osaka, but winters can be chilly. During December and January, average daytime highs are 9-12 degrees, with overnight lows of around 2-3 degrees. You'd be unlucky to see the temperature dip below freezing, but you'll still want to pack some warm winter clothing, a hat and some gloves.
If you're visiting Osaka in the winter, bear in mind that much of the city shuts down for several days over the New Year period.

What to pack and wear in Osaka-Shi?
Light cotton garments are the most practical clothing for Osaka spring, summer, and autumn holidays. Summer visitors should also bring umbrellas and raincoats because summer is Osaka's rainiest season. Although snow and freezing temperatures are rare in Osaka, winter visitors should still wear heavy coats as the weather can feel chilly. March brings warmer weather and blooming cherry blossoms to Osaka.
