Weather Sanur
Sanur is a small town in southeast Bali, known for its quiet resort air and its safe, attractive beach. The town is mostly preferred by older couples and young families, as it does not boast the nightlife to be found elsewhere on Bali. It is also a major diving centre, and a popular location for watersports.

Sanur’s Climate
Sanur experiences a tropical equatorial climate. Because of its proximity to the equator, there is not much variation on temperatures throughout the year - it’s going to be hot whenever you visit Sanur. There is no winter or cold season as such.
The Rainy Season
Between October and March, Sanur experiences a rainy season. The worst of the rain comes between December and February, but it’s quite wet throughout this period. Heavy rain can last all day, or it may come in the form of short, sharp downpours. Thunderstorms are common, as are flooding and landslides.
During the rainy season, daily highs are consistently above 30 degrees, so the high humidity makes this an uncomfortable travel experience for many. Night time temperatures don’t fall by all that much, so you may find it difficult to sleep.
The rainy season is not popular with watersports enthusiasts, because of the stormy waters. Although Sanur beach itself is protected by a reef, it can still be very turbulent during the worst of the weather, disrupting diving activities. However, surfing enthusiasts prefer the rainy season in Sanur.
Sanur is much cheaper during the rainy season, so you will find some bargain hotel prices. Take an umbrella and waterproof shoes - it’s much too hot for any other kind of waterproof clothing. You’ll need to pack lightweight summer clothing, and take plenty of changes of clothing as you’ll be sticky in the humid heat.
During the rainy season, you will still be able to bask on the beach between showers, but it’s also the perfect time to explore Sanur’s museums and indoor attractions.
The Dry Season
April to September is the busiest time of year in Sanur, as this is Bali’s dry season. Daily highs nudge up to around 33-34 degrees and the nights remain warm, but the humidity is much lower and there is very little rain.
Many of Sanur’s best festivals take place during the dry season, drawing tourists from far and wide. The kite festival happens every July, with locals flying huge kites to ask the gods for an abundant harvest. Sanur village festival is every August, and is a colourful spectacle full of music, dance and local traditions.
The dry season is the ideal time to explore the local area around Sanur. The Turtle Conservation and Education Centre is a popular draw, as is the Bali Safari and Marine Park.
If you’re visiting Sanur in the dry season, take plenty of sunscreen, a hot and insect repellent. You’ll only need very lightweight summer clothing and beach wear.
