Climate in Lhasa
Lhasa sits in a small basin in the highlands of the Tibet Autonomous Region and as such has a highland temperate semi-arid monsoon climate. This means that the city has mild winters though they can be extremely cold and summers that are stiflingly hot. There are four distinct seasons in Lhasa, though there is a rainy season that starts in July and ends in September when the highest concentration of rain falls.

Summer comes to Lhasa in June and ends in August. The weather is sunny and has some humidity with which comes rainfall. There is also a very big difference in temperature during the day and night. The day time has hot temperatures but the nights are very cold by comparison and can catch people unawares in the evenings.

The winter months in Lhasa are from November to February and bring with them dry and windy weather as well as lower temperatures. This is a very quiet time for tourism despite the bright and clear days the city experiences.
