Weather Guilin
Guilin can be found on the west banks of the Li River in the north east of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. It is a prefecture-level city and borders Hunan. Guilin is one of China’s most popular tourist destinations due to the beautiful scenery that surrounds the city.
Best month to visit Guilin
The best time to visit Guilin is during autumn, winter and the early clutches of spring. Compared to other areas of China the weather is extremely warm and there is the beautiful scent of osmanthus blossom throughout the city during the winter months and low levels of rainfall during the relatively dry season.

Climate in Guilin
Guilin has a sub-tropical monsoon climate and four distinct seasons across the year. The temperatures stay fairly warm all year round, the coldest part of the year being during the winter months with an average temperature of around 8 degrees Celsius.
Rainy season in Guilin
The rainy season in Guilin starts in April and continues through most of the summer months. Each day there is 50% chance of rain with up to 1000 mm of rainfall which means that despite the hot temperatures some days you may well find yourself inside for most of the day.

Summer is the hottest time of year in Guilin with temperatures reaching an average high of 28 degrees Celsius in July. June is the wettest time of the year in Guilin so it is best to avoid travelling to Guilin during that month. The Li River is one sight that shouldn’t be missed especially during light rain.

The dry season begins in September and ends around March with there being a small amount of snow around during the winter months in the city, but the mountains around Guilin receive quite a high amount of snow fall making them even more beautiful than they are during the autumn and spring.

Light clothing can be worn all year round in Guilin though during the winter months you may want to have some slightly warmer clothing with you. Shoes that are made for walking should be worn at all times in Guilin as the city is not one that is designed for flip flops or sandals. Due to the heavy rainfall during the rainy season carrying an umbrella and light waterproof is a must.
